EQUITY MARKET OVERVIEW
Indian equity markets were steady and ended the period from November 15 to December 12, 2022 on a positive note, as S&P BSE Sensex index and Nifty 50 index closed higher by 0.8% MoM and 0.9% MoM, respectively. The S&P BSE Midcap index and S&P BSE Smallcap index rose by 2.7% MoM and 2.1% MoM, respectively. On the sectoral indices front, S&P BSE Capital Goods index and S&P BSE FMCG index, were top two outperformers with a gain of 5.2% MoM and 4.8% MoM, respectively. The S&P BSE Power index and S&P BSE Consumer Durable index declined by 5.9% MoM and 2.8% MoM, respectively were the top two underperformers. During the month of November 2022, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) were net buyers to the tune of ~382 bn and Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers to the tune of ~17 bn.

DEBT MARKET OVERVIEW
Domestic G‑sec yields remained volatile and closed on a flat note during the period from November 15 to December 12, 2022. Yield on the 10-year benchmark G‑secs closed at 7.29% on 12 December 2022 same as that on 14 November 2022. In case of AAA rated corporate bonds, yields in the upto 1 year segment declined by an average of ~2 bps for the said period, tracking a improvement in banking system liquidity. In case of greater than 1 year segment yields showed mixed movement in the range of -29 to 16 bps (MoM). Domestic banking system liquidity as measured by the RBI’s net Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) stood at a daily average surplus of ~930 bn during the period, as compared to ~9 bn during the previous period.
