Development in a large country such as ours brings with it various challenges— the foremost being translating economic growth to sustainable development. Through various Sustainable Livelihood initiatives, HDFC Bank Parivartan encourages marginalised communities and businesses to include social and environmental consideration in their operations.
'Inclusive of immediate & extended beneficiaries'
We believe that development is possible only if our villages are a part of the economic prosperity. This is the philosophy that drives the Bank’s Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP). The programme identifies and addresses the critical needs of each village through multiple interventions designed after consultation with the village community and other stakeholders
Under Skill Training and Livelihood Enhancement, Parivartan extends support to multiple projects that are focused on competency-based skill-oriented training and placements, capacity building, promoting financial literacy, credit and entrepreneurial activities as well as upskilling for agricultural and allied practices.
Our Bank’s education programmes are structured to promote learning by creating a conducive and effective learning environment in schools. Under Parivartan’s second pillar of education, the interventions are focused on teacher training that involves training in alternate, promoting innovation, improving school infrastructure through refurbishment etc. HDFC Bank Parivartan has also introduced smart classes across different states to integrate technology with education.
Under Healthcare and Hygiene, the key interventions are focused on championing the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan through awareness, behavioural change and construction of toilets. In addition, with an aim to promote healthcare and hygiene, the Bank has consistently organised health camps and generated awareness about nutrition, provided clean drinking water, and conducted blood donation drives. The bank has also been recognised by Guinness World Records for organising the largest blood donation drive and collecting the highest units of blood in a single day.
We believe that financial literacy is the first step towards financial inclusion. Millions have learnt about the basics of savings, investment and access to the organised sources of finance from financial literacy camps conducted across the country through HDFC Bank's 5400 plus branch network. Our branches also focus on provision of basic financial services and capacity building programmes. In several villages financial literacy was delivered right at the doorstep through our Dhanchayat programme which used vans to share this important message.
